Naming

[edit]

Gerda Arendt, just a note to let you know that I am still working through this one and the Flagey Square article. The main reason for my changing the article name was that I had come across "Flagey" in several articles, and was first confused because the building didn't appear on the DAB page at all, and I had to dig around to work out what was what. I am in the process of documenting some of the variations in name in both articles (and adding some history), and am happy to review the title when I have finished using a few more sources. WP:ENGLISH says to "use the version of the name of the subject which is most common in the English language, as you would find it in reliable sources", and although this is not as clear-cut as some (like the Eiffel Tower), I thought that the Flagey website would be the authority - but I am happy to be persuaded otherwise! Will come back to this when I've got to the end of this round, maybe tomorrow. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 06:57, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I'm done with it for now. At this point I think that there are arguments for using either name (Le Flagey or Flagey Building). The sources are inconsistent, and many contemporary references to the building as a cultural centre just call it Flagey. There is possibly a leaning towards Flagey Building for the building itself and Le Flagey for its current uses. I think I still lean slightly towards Flagey Building for its use on English Wikipedia, but would not oppose a move back to Le Flagey. So I will leave it up to others. It can be found, either way! Forgot to say, its category on Wikipedia commons has been called Flagey building (uncapitalised). Laterthanyouthink (talk) 03:16, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, just noticed that French Wikipedia has two articles, fr:Le Flagey for the cultural centre, and fr:Maison de la Radio (Belgique) for the architectural history and features. The Dutch one just has nl:Flageygebouw. And I just discovered loads more pics on Commons in Category:Interiors of Flagey building, but I won't add any more now. It might be worth adding a Gallery section. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 06:15, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
